Privacy Policy (English)

This policy covers the Train Location Tracking website (trainlocationtracking.com) and Android app, published on Google Play by Ray Securities. It is not an official Bangladesh Railway service. If the Bangla and English texts differ, the Bangla text applies.

Summary

No account is needed. We do not collect phone numbers, email addresses, contacts or photos. Location is collected only after you start sharing, and only for that trip. Nobody else sees your exact location, and your location points are not stored. There are no ads. To count how many people use which screens and share, the app uses Google's Firebase Analytics and the website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics; neither receives your name, phone number or location, and no advertising ID is collected. We never sell data.

Location

When you tap “start sharing”, the app or website reads your phone's precise (GPS) location and sends it to our server about every 15 seconds. In the app a notification stays visible the whole time, and sharing continues while the screen is locked until you stop it. Collection stops when you stop sharing or when the share expires (8 hours after the train's scheduled arrival).

The server immediately converts each location into a distance along the railway line. Latitude and longitude are not stored. Points far from the line, inaccurate points and points outside Bangladesh are dropped. Your latest distance is kept for at most 30 minutes (or until the train's run ends) and then deleted. The combined result for the train (position, speed, delay, number of sharers) is public and is kept to show delay history; it contains no personal data.

Family link

Starting a share creates a private link. For it the server keeps the name you type (optional, up to 40 characters), the train, the destination station (optional), whether you use the app or the website, and the start and stop times. Anyone with the link sees these and the train's position, not your exact location. This data is deleted automatically after 7 days, after which the link stops working.

On your phone

The app keeps the active share, a few locations waiting to be sent while offline, and a count of what you have sent on your phone. The active share is removed when it ends, and everything is removed when you uninstall the app.

Usage statistics

The app uses Google's Firebase Analytics to see how it is used: which screens are opened; whether a share was started, stopped or failed; whether a family link was sent or Google Maps was opened (with the train number); and the phone model, Android version, language, app version and approximate area (country or city, from the IP address). Each install has a random ID. Your name, phone number and location are not sent. Collection of the Advertising ID and Android ID is turned off, and this data is not used for advertising. Google processes it on our behalf.

The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views (which page, the referring site, country and browser type). It sets no cookies and does not identify you.

Our server also keeps a daily count of how many times each page was opened (date, page address and the number only). No IP address or anything that identifies you is stored with it. These counts are deleted after 400 days.

Reporting a mistake

When you use the “ভুল জানান” (report a mistake) form on the website or in the app, we receive what you enter (what is wrong, the train or station, the travel date and your text), plus the page it was sent from and whether it came from the website or the app. We do not ask for your name, phone number or location; please do not put them in the text. To spot repeated sending, a random code is made from your IP address that changes every day and cannot be turned back into the IP address; the IP address itself is not stored. Only our admins read reports, to correct the timetable. Each report is deleted after 180 days.

Permissions

Location (precise and approximate), only while sharing. Foreground service (location), to keep sharing while the screen is locked, with an always-visible notification; the app does not request background location. Notifications, to show that sharing is on.

Service providers and security

The website and server run on Cloudflare. To stop abuse, IP addresses are counted briefly for rate limiting and are not stored by us; Cloudflare may keep request data (such as IP address and browser type) for security under its own policy. All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Google (Firebase) processes the app's usage statistics as our service provider, as described above. We do not sell or share data with advertisers or anyone else, except where the law requires it.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Deleting your data

Tap “stop sharing” at any time: collection stops at once and your position is deleted from the server within 30 minutes. Family-link data is deleted automatically after 7 days; to delete it sooner, email the link (or its 8-character code) to hello@trainlocationtracking.com and we will delete it within 7 days. To remove data on your phone, uninstall the app or clear its storage; this also replaces the random ID used for usage statistics.
